Why Dimethylamine (2' amonia) is more basic than Trimethylamine (3' amonia) ?

Answer:-

-> Less steric hindrance in (CH3)2NH than (CH3)3N.
-> More hydration energy of (CH3)2NH than (CH3)3N.

Example:

Order of basic strength:

(CH3)2-NH           >           (CH3)-NH2            >        (CH3)3-N
{Secondary amine}       {Primary amine}            {Tertiary amine}

*Basic strength depends on:-
                                                  -> Inductive effect
                                                  -> Steric hindrance
                                                  -> Hydration energy
So, Dimethylamine is more basic than Trimethylamine in aqueous solution.
Reason:-
a. Less steric hindrance of Dimethylamine than Trimethylamine.
b. More hydration energy of Dimethylamine than Trimethylamine.

  4. Post winter storm several chemical commodities remained affected in USA, as the plants based in Texas underwent forced turnarounds. Entering May, major companies like Eastman and Celanese resumed their Dimethyl Amine Pricing manufacturing plant operations, which were halted due to the storm. Demand for Dimethyl Amine remained strong from downstream pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals sector. In addition, prolonged shortage of feedstock Ammonia and Methanol since mid-February led to an effective price hike during first half of the quarter. Therefore, taking support from soaring feedstock prices amidst stable to firm demand, prices of Dimethyl Amine price showcased a decent rise during Q2 2021.
